First time? Here’s how to install & open it on each system — read the quick tutorial →

Setup

How to install & open it

One install, then sign in with your VendorBox vendor account. Pick your system:

  1. Download the installer (vendorbox-tracker-setup.exe) and double-click it.
  2. Windows may warn “Windows protected your PC” because the app isn’t code-signed yet — click More info → Run anyway.
  3. Follow the installer (Next → Install).
  4. Open VendorBox Tracker from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.
  1. Open the downloaded .dmg, then drag VendorBox Tracker into Applications.
  2. First launch only: right-click the app → Open (or System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway) — needed because it isn’t notarized yet.
  3. After that, open it normally from Applications or Launchpad.

AppImage — no install

  1. Make it executable: chmod +x vendorbox-tracker.AppImage
or right-click → Properties → Permissions → Allow executing as program
  2. Run it: ./vendorbox-tracker.AppImage (or just double-click).

.deb — Debian / Ubuntu

  1. Install (from the folder it’s in): sudo apt install ./vendorbox-tracker.deb
  2. Open from your apps menu (VendorBox Tracker) or run vendorbox-tracker.
Then, on any system: open the app, sign in with your VendorBox vendor account, pick an active hourly contract, and hit Start — your hours sync straight to the job timesheet for the client to approve and pay.
How it works

From doorbell to payout, in three steps

The tracker is built for VendorBox hourly contracts — you're paid for the hours you actually work, held safely in escrow.

Install & sign in

Download the app and sign in with your vendor account. Your active hourly contracts appear automatically — nothing to configure.

Track as you work

Hit start when you begin, stop when you're done, and jot a quick note about what you did. Sessions are saved even if you lose signal on site.

Hours sync for approval

Your entries appear on the job's timesheet. The client reviews and approves them, and the payment is released to you from escrow.

Why vendors use it

Small app, honest hours

An accurate record of your time — with optional screenshot proof of work that clients can trust. You choose which screen to share, and you're always in control.

One-click timers

A timer per contract. Switch jobs in one click when you're juggling multiple customers in a day.

Screenshot proof of work

While the timer runs, a screenshot is taken every 10 minutes as proof for the client. Each one counts as 10 billable minutes — and you can delete any screenshot you don't want shared, which removes that time too.

Notes per session

"Replaced both springs, lubricated rails." Notes ride along with your hours so approvals go smoothly.

Escrow-backed

Tracked hours bill against the contract's escrowed estimate — the same protected flow as the rest of VendorBox.

Questions

Good to know

Do I need the app to work hourly jobs?
No. You can always log hours in your browser on the contract page. The desktop tracker is a faster, more accurate way to do the same thing — especially if you work several jobs a day.
Does it cost anything?
No — the tracker is free for all VendorBox vendors. The usual service fee on payouts is unchanged whether you log hours in the app or in the browser.
Does it take screenshots of my screen?
Only while your timer is running, and only if you start screen tracking — it captures a screenshot every 10 minutes as proof of work for the client. You pick which screen or window to share, nothing is captured when the timer is stopped, and you can review and delete any screenshot before or after it's shared (deleting one also removes its 10 minutes from the bill). It never records your keyboard, mouse, or anything outside the screen you chose to share.
Which jobs can I track?
Active hourly contracts (where a client has hired you and funded escrow). Fixed-price jobs don't use timesheets — they pay the agreed amount on completion. Browse open jobs to find hourly work.
